Mission

To help commerce businesses in the Baltics and Europe adopt AI in ways that are practical, responsible, and evidence-based. We exist to close the gap between vendor hype and what teams can actually ship, and to make that guidance available to anyone in the industry without paywalls.

What we do

  • Publish independent research on AI adoption in commerce, free and under open licences.
  • Maintain a free Knowledge Hub of guides, checklists, and playbooks.
  • Run an Open Case Library documenting real deployments with real numbers.
  • Host meetups, workshops, and conferences across Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, and online.
  • Support students, early-career professionals, and SMEs entering AI-driven commerce.

Who benefits

BAICA exists for the people who have to make AI work inside a commerce business, and for the institutions around them. Everything we publish is free to all of these groups, with no membership requirement and no sign-up:

  • Small and mid-sized commerce businesses across Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which rarely have a dedicated AI function and cannot afford consultancy rates to answer a first question.
  • Commerce and ecommerce teams in larger retailers and brands, who need benchmarks and peer evidence rather than vendor decks.
  • Students and early-career professionals entering AI-driven commerce, through free events, open research data for coursework, and volunteer roles.
  • Universities and educators who need current industry material they can teach from, released under open licences.
  • Agencies, developers and public institutions that need shared reference points when advising or regulating commerce businesses on AI.

What we are trying to change

Two gaps drive the work. The first is a knowledge gap: the most recent Eurostat figures put AI use among Latvian enterprises at roughly 4%, against an EU average of 20.0%, while Lithuania sits near the average and Estonia between them. Businesses in the region are making decisions about AI with far less practical guidance available to them than their competitors elsewhere in Europe.

The second is a trust gap. Most material a commerce team finds when it searches for help is published by someone selling a tool. We publish research with every figure linked to its source, name the projects that failed alongside the ones that worked, and take no vendor sponsorship, so that a business can tell the difference between evidence and marketing.

We measure ourselves on whether that material is used: guides read and applied, cases contributed back by teams who ran them, businesses and students in the room at our events. Our first Annual Report, covering activities and finances, is published in Q1 2027.

Governance and independence

BAICA is governed by a Board elected by its members. Vendor-neutrality is built into our statutes: no single commercial vendor controls the research agenda, and all published research is released under open licences. Our first Annual Report covering activities and finances will be published in Q1 2027. The association is funded by membership contributions and partner support; it has no commercial revenue.

Board

BAICA is governed by a three-member Board elected by the association's members.

  • Glebs Vrevskis — Co-founder and Board Member. Commerce growth executive with 15+ years in eCommerce, leads the association's research and events agenda.
  • Antons Sapriko — Co-founder and Board Member. Entrepreneur with two decades building commerce technology companies in the Baltics, leads partnerships and funding.
  • Aigars Pavlovics — Co-founder and Board Member. Commerce account and client strategy leader, leads the membership programme and the Open Case Library.

Board members serve in a personal capacity. The association's vendor-neutrality rules apply to all Board decisions on research and publications.

Founding

BAICA was founded in 2026 by a group of Baltic commerce operators, researchers, and educators who wanted a permanent, independent home for AI-in-commerce knowledge in the region. The association received early operational support from industry partners; that support does not grant any editorial control over research or events.

Get involved

Individuals and organisations that share the association's purpose can apply for membership, contribute a case study, or get in touch directly.

Everything we publish is free.

Guides, research notes and case digests, with no sign-up and no paywall. Membership is how the work gets funded and shaped, and it is free during 2026.
